Overview

As a Cloud Architect, you will work within our growing DevSecOps practice delivering features to support cloud migration, cloud optimization and cloud deployment. We are looking for candidates with 8-10 years of experience with cloud platform services and DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code and configuration management automation. Responsibilities include:  

Contributions

• Identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the customer  
• Design cloud environments and demonstrate technical cloud architectural knowledge, playing a vital role in the design of production, staging, QA, and development of cloud infrastructures running in 24×7 environments  
• Implement and oversee cloud strategies including migrations and optimization  
• Establish development tools and infrastructure for automation  
• Understand the needs of stakeholders and convey this to developers  
• Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes  
• Test and examine code written by others and analyze results  
• Perform root cause analysis on complex business processes and technical components  
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats  
• Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and fixes  
• Work with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and functions as intended  
• Support enterprise cloud applications or infrastructure via infrastructure as code, including automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, and monitoring/testing such as CI/CD  
• Document the as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations  
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to optimize and modernize software systems  
• Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members  
• Engineer and implement solutions while providing recommendations for continuous improvement  
• Present regular status updates and provide cross training to team members

Qualifications

Required:  

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance  
• BS Degree in an IT field or BS in a non-IT field with 2 years of related IT experience  
• 10+ years of total experience
• 8 years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions  
• 8 years of experience with two or more clouds (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle)  
• 8 years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket  
• 8 years of experience with systems development in an Agile environment  
• 8 years of experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration  
• 8 years of experience integrating deployments with industry-standard DevSecOps tooling and orchestration  
• 5 years of experience in areas such as database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, or advanced analytics  
• Solution Architect Certification, or equivalent, in at least two clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle)  
• 5 years of experience in a client-facing or consultative architecture role  

Preferred:  

• MS Degree in an IT-related field  
• Certifications in each of the four major clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI):  
• AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate  
• AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional  
• Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert  
• Microsoft Certified Solution Architect Expert  
• Google Cloud Engineer  
• Google Cloud Architect  
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Certified Architect Associate  
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Certified Architect Professional  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities  
• Experience documenting an as-is state, performing gap analysis, and producing artifacts with options and recommendations  
• Experience with scripting in Concourse, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby  
• Experience implementing Docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes  
• Experience with automation tools including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible  
• Experience working in a Health Science Program  

About steampunk

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including geographic location, contractual requirements, education, skills, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $130,000 to $215,000. The annual salary is just one aspect of Steampunk’s total compensation package.
